Political Events

It’s usually not welcome to take photos with police in certain countries, yet these police in Cusco Peru weren’t to bothered

Politics is not just about elections, think civil unrest, violent protests… know your destinations political status

Now you may be thinking what does politics have to do with travelling, well most of the time they don’t yet depend on where you travel to or possibly the time of year you’re travelling. I’m not talking about the United States embargo against Cuba, more like there could be political unrest in certain countries either foreseen or unexpected due to last minute protests which cause disruption to your travel plans by blocking routes or halting public transport, or even violent protests forcing you to flee your accommodation and current location. For known political unrest destinations check your local government recommendations for travel advice, and also ensure you make contingency arrangements just to be prepared.
